My wife and I are raising our 3 grandsons. We recently moved into a new home and it was flooded by a flash flood on the 15th of July. We spent the last year and $15,000 getting our grandsons out of the foster care system in California so our savings is gone. It will be 3 months minimum before our house is repaired and we can return to it. We are currently staying in an old RV, but we have to get into a furnished place soon
because the state of California is telling us they will not send the checks that the kids deserve for their care until we are in a house that has been certified and unfortunately I had budgeted to support my wife and I after retirement. Raising our grandchildren was unexpected and unplanned for. So we depend on that money that is now being withheld by the state due to no fault of our own. Anyone that knows me will know how difficult it is for me to ask for financial help in this way, but I don’t know what else to do. If it was just my wife and I in this situation I wouldn’t even consider doing this, but I’m out of options.
Please help us help our grandchildren. They’ve been through so much and I feel like a complete failure as a man having to beg like this. It’s humiliating. I promise you this isn’t happening because of irresponsibility on our part, just a series of bad circumstances beyond our control. As a retired Marine, I am not accustomed to not being able to handle my own affairs. I’m usually the guy that helps others. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and thank you for anything you can do to help.
