Last night, I found out my father had passed away, and with limited funds, we don’t have the money to cover final expenses. The nursing home he was in made no real effort to notify us, and it was a shady place. I was trying to figure out how to get him moved locally, but now it’s too late.

I just spoke with the funeral home that has been holding onto him, and I cannot afford to cover the cost of cremation or burial. From what I was told, veterans' benefits are limited, and I really want to keep his ashes. I am doing everything I can to cover the cost, but between Christmas and the general high cost of living, I don’t know how I’m going to do it.

I am hoping to get funds to cover the cost of cremation, an urn, and travel costs as he’s in Tampa, and I will have to go back and forth multiple times. I know it may not be much to some, but I need help now more than ever. Once he is cremated I am planning on a celebration of life and we will need to get family that is not local here for it.
