Hello, my name is Kim and I am raising funds to help a sweet kitty named Faraday get a surgical procedure that he needs very soon to prevent his lungs from failing. Faraday is my brother in Christ's cat and has been having a very hard time for months now.
He has a problem called Chylothorax which basically means that fluid is building up in the cavity surrounding his lungs and is putting pressure on his lungs so that they are having trouble expanding properly. He works very hard to breathe. The vets have been very helpful and have been draining the fluid now at a bi-weekly rate as it refills very quickly now, but in order to solve the problem and save him from having his lungs fail, he does need surgery to fix the leak. The surgery is called
TCL (Thoracic Duct Ligation)
"This surgical technique involves ligating the thoracic duct, which is the main duct through which chyle drains from the lymphatic system into the thoracic cavity. By ligating the duct, the flow of chyle into the chest is stopped, preventing accumulation."
Unfortunately, the closest surgeon who can do this procedure (and who has good success rates) is in a city that is about a 10-hour drive away from my friend. We have been advised that Faraday would not survive a plane ride and will need to be driven by car.
Faraday is only 4 years old. He hopefully has many years ahead of him if he can get the surgery he needs. He is such a good and sweet boy and is very loved.
We are trying to raise money to help pay for the surgery and the costs of transportation and lodging when my friend takes Faraday to and from the surgical team who can do the surgery.
If we do not get some assistance financially, we won't be able to save up enough money for several more months most likely ...and Faraday's condition is getting worse quickly. So, we are reaching out to see if any of our friends or family or even strangers would feel led to help out so that we can get Faraday this surgery as soon as possible.
Please do not feel any pressure to help; we know that many are having their own financial limitations and struggles as well. But, if you feel led to help and have any amount you can spare to contribute towards Faraday's care, we do really greatly appreciate it.
And of course, your prayers for Faraday and for the situation are also just as greatly appreciated too. Thank you for taking the time to read this and consider helping in any way possible☺️
The above photo is some of the liquid that gets drained bi-weekly from his chest cavity. It is white-colored because of the fats in it.
I am attaching a video that shows Faraday having trouble breathing and some of his coughing. It is hard to watch, but he is a trooper.
