Urgent Help for Erwin's Kidney Failure

Hi, my name is Sam and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my friend Renee.

We’re raising funds for our beloved Erwin who is battling sudden, life-threatening kidney failure.

As we figure out causes and treatment, bills are racking up with the current estimate sitting at 11k. With dialysis being the likely next step, any financial help you can offer towards saving his life would be greatly appreciated. Kidney failure is reversible in felines and with treatment he has the potential to live a long, fulfilling life.

Erwin is only 4 years old and the most important thing in the world to his family, especially to his mommy, Renee.

***UPDATE***

We’ve moved Erwin to another clinic with a specialist on staff and according to a second opinion, dialysis is NOT the only option.

Erwin was originally admitted on Sunday due to a urinary blockage that was removed with surgery. Renee was told that his creatinine and BUN levels should drop following the removal however they only continued to rise. There was no sign of infection, no abnormalities in Erwin’s kidneys nor bladder, and no signs of masses that would indicate cancer. We were given the options of moving him to a clinic with dialysis available, continuing fluid treatment seemingly without much hope in his prognosis, or taking him home; all of which were devastating options.

After two days of rising creatinine and BUN, Erwin’s levels finally seemed to respond to fluids last night before leaving the first clinic and the new vet began a more aggressive fluid treatment upon admittance. When we left him, his levels had gone down even more though they were still at concerning levels.

By no means are we in the clear but his new treatment plan is simply fluids for 48 hours and continued monitoring with this second vet being more optimistic in his ability to make it through.

We’re feeling cautiously hopeful and have been overwhelmed by the kindness of friends and strangers alike during this absolute nightmare.

For full transparency: the final bill at the first clinic was $7591.69 and the estimate for his new treatment plan is in the ballpark of $4000.
