Don protégé
Hi friends,
I’m a disabled, extremely low-income senior in San Francisco with a rescue bulldog I’ve owned for seven years. He is my service dog. He weighs 88 pounds. Duke started limping about a month ago and developed huge swelling and inflammation in a front pinkie toe. Our first vet exam couldn’t take needed X-rays as they were too backed up. They wanted two more visits a week away just for blood draw and X-rays. So I then went to our usual vet center and that visit for X-rays and blood plus exam is already about $2000. Recheck visit is due next week. The vet per blood results wants more tests for hypothyroid, anemia and ultrasound for possible abdominal mass and we still don’t know if toe mass is cancerous but toe amputation has already been recommended. Duke is on two prescription medications. He also was diagnosed with allergies and got a cytopoint injection at around $300 that really helped but only works 4-6 weeks. I need help paying this huge first vet bill so I can continue diagnostic exams. I have zero disposable income as landlord gets 80% of my Social Security (and that’s with 40 years of rent control living in my tiny unit) and Medicare the rest. Thank you friends for your help. Duke says thank you too! We love you and if you are unable to donate we’d appreciate your prayers for Duke’s recovery.
