Urgent Help for Displaced Job Corps Students
Donation protected
Hello, Job Corps was a federally funded trade school for 16-24 year olds, changing the lives of millions of young Americans for 60 years. Job Corps provides students with an education, housing in a dorm environment, 3 meals a day, along with certifications and teaching every student about professionalism.
Many students come here to complete their high school diplomas or obtain their GED. Others come here to escape homelessness or a rough upbringing. But every student comes here to better their futures and leave with more than what they came with.
On May 29th, all DOL contract-owned centers across the nation were informed we would be defunded on June 30th. At the time of this announcement, we didn't know what this would look like. (They called us into a huge meeting to address this).
The very next day, May 30th, we received an update. This update being that all students had to pack all of their belongings and seek housing by June 6th. Leaving students with exactly 7 days to find safe housing. If no housing is secured, thousands of students across America will be faced with homelessness.
We are asking for help for the students who do not have a home to go to. We are asking for assistance for any Job Corps students in need of things such as housing (first month's rent), food, clothing if needed, resources, and any ability to help the thousands of 16-24 year olds about to face homelessness.
Job Corps was their last chance and we failed them. How can we help them?
