My name is Kiley and I'm starting this GoFundMe for a very good friend of mine since high school who is going through a nightmare and could really use a miracle right now. Derkes 5 year old daughter, Tatiana (Tati for short) was diagnosed with high risk stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer. It's scary to even write. Their life got shaken up, and now she spends most of her time with her Dad at UMass Children Hospital getting rounds of chemo, tumors removed and experiencing nasty side effects. Now, through all this, Derek and Tati had to flee their home. He has two days left to stay in Worcester at the hospital before he transfers to The Boston House where they are staying for further treatment for 2 weeks. After the Boston House he has nowhere. We are currently scrambling to get him into some sort of shelter, a shelter that will accept a very sick child. There are a hundred phone calls to make and it's hard to know where to start. He will be put on an emergency housing list, but who knows how long that will take. We are hoping Red Cross might be able to put him up at a hotel for a few days as well once they are out of the Boston House. I started this GoFundMe to try to help him. Try to make some sort of miracle for this amazing man who is staying so strong for his little girl. He puts on such a smile for her, he's an incredible Dad. He was miracled a car, since his abuser totalled theirs just a week ago. Getting the car was life-changing because it was going to be a problem getting her from the shelter to the hospital, back and forth for her treatments, especially when they will be in Boston and her treatments are in Worcester. The car is currently being repaired for them..but no money to put it on the road, which is more money... So that was a big help but still a hurdle to cross. I would like to be able to give him something else, possibly for first last and security for an apartment? Gas money, for stable living situation of any kind. Maybe a couple weeks in a hotel? Even money for necessities, he hasn't been working he's been living at the hospital with her and her main provider when home. Now there is no home. There's a Grateful Dead lyric that says "I need a miracle everyday" This couldn't be more true for him and Tati. I'm hoping I can pull different communities together to help him. In any way.
