My brother David Houston is in ICU at UNMC hospital in Omaha with a massive brain bleed. He just had an open heart surgery to have a mechanical valve placed 2 years ago after an aortic valve stenosis. Because of this new valve, he was put on a blood thinner called warfarin. However, now with the brain bleed, they need his blood thicker to help his brain but thinner to keep his heart functioning properly. This is a very scary line they're walking to keep things where they need to be for both brain and heart.

He will be in ICU for about a week if all goes well, then to a general room for a week to monitor his heart and restart the higher warfarin levels, then into a short term rehab for a few more weeks. This is the father of my nephew that just had three open heart surgeries in March. There is only so much that insurance can cover and with lost wages from the last surgery and now this hospital stay, this family is in very real need financially. Please pray and give what you can. My family has truly been through the wringer with serious and terrifying medical issues.
