As you all know, our highly skilled, versatile, dedicated and good-natured friend Cleiber Linares Guzman was detained last week, sent to a Louisiana facility, and is due for deportation back to Guatemala. Cleiber came into the U.S. 25 years ago on a work visa and was not able to extend that visa. He has a clean record and has made efforts to become a US citizen.

Remaining in DC are his wife Sylvia who is ill and scheduled for surgery in a few weeks (ulcerative bowel inflammation) and his 3 children ranging in age from 9 to 15 who were all born here in the USA. Regardless of the politics involved, the dismal fact is that Cleiber's income has ceased, his future in Guatemala looks bleak, and his family is now faced with dire needs: rent, food, school supplies and clothing. I hope any of you who benefited from Cleiber's work in your home, or those who are sympathetic to his plight, will consider helping his family at this time. They will be so grateful for help.
