Hi friends and family and furbaby lovers, we thought we would never have to ask for help, but we need your help. We’re already nearly $5k in the hole with an additional $5k expected to incur of vet bills for Celine in the aftermath of a fight with the dog we adopted and had for only 3 days.
On Wednesday, 7/23, Cat was home alone with the two dogs when they got into a fight. It took every ounce of strength she had to separate them. Celine has several big open wounds around her left shoulder and armpit, the new rescue had a few scratches.
Initially, Celine had to go in for surgery and got several stitches and a drainage port put in. She was restless the next few days, eventually resulting in her hudini-ing out of her cone, busting a set of stitches and eating half of her port. Given everything going on and Celine’s inability to get rest for her recovery, we decided it was best to give the new rescue dog back.
Over the past week, we’ve been in and out of our vets and BEVs every day from 8am-mid afternoon due to the location and extent of her injuries. She has two 3-4” open wounds that can’t be stitched and they had to pack the wounds and stitch a cover over it.
We had a surgery consult at PEAK and the plan is to continue with the wound cover and have it changed under sedation every 24-48hrs. This runs us about $330/visit.
So far, we have spent $4,700. We anticipate another $4-5,000 in bandage changes and follow-up visits, bringing us to around $10,000 in the hole. Any help towards these bills would be a huge help and relief for us, even $20. We are so humbled to be asking for money from folks. It’s hard and we didn’t know what else to do, so we’re leaning on our village and asking for the help we need. We love and appreciate all of you ❤️. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
