Hi, I’m Cat. Our situation has gotten worse. October 27th, a fire damaged the entire kitchen and house while we were visiting my mom at the hospital. We got lucky and our animals were rescued. We can’t live in it, until we fix it up. Unfortunately, Insurance for the house took 4 months to approve us, only after my father threatened to file a complaint. We have been living in and out of hotels that cost around $800 to $1000 a week depending on seasons and holidays, since and almost on the streets many times. We’re living on out of pocket funds for food, clothing, and hotel stay, but my dad is on a retirement and pension budget along with my mom’s retirement and pension. It’s not enough to help us stay off the streets. I can’t work because of mental illnesses and major back issues. (I have been trying for SSI since I was 18) right now my mother has taken a turn for the worse and has been diagnosed with dementia, she could pass away at any point with how bad she’s doing. She’s not eating and she’s not very verbal anymore. She just lays on her back with her mouth open and she’s close to comatose. That is taking a toll on us since we’re also paying out of pocket for her medical problems. We’ve also been behind on the house mortgage because we have been out of pocket on everything so the house is close to foreclosing. All thanks to the insurance taking 4 months to even look at our claim (we called and left a number they could reach several times telling them of our situation and to please let us know something, they didn’t even offer the courtesy of calling back to say anything) we’re now close to losing our house, (we can’t sale because we owe the mortgage $146,000 and our credit score is in the 300s) we’re losing everything and I’m mentally trying to stay strong. So I’m asking we need at least $900 for the mortgage, $3,400 for a month guaranteed at the hotel. The rest is for extra funds on everything else we need right now. Thank you all again.
