Hello, I recently found out that someone I know has been battling stomach cancer for a little over a year now. She is much older but she had somebody move in to be a roommate to help her out, and that person brought an animal who had upper respiratory infection, fleas etc and it eventually, over the past few months, has spiraled out of control. Past what she can afford. Not only financially, but she physically cannot take care of these cats and on top of that they allowed some of them to get together and have babies. Now, normally we’ll be able to just put eye ointment in the eyes and separate them until better for a few weeks. Two of the kittens only two weeks old lost their eyes already. I have not been to the vet yet. I just got them yesterday night 12/2/25.
I went there just to check on her situation with the cats because last time I was there there was still some respiratory issues, but this time I came it was just so terrible while she’s in the hospital. The people taking care of her cats are not doing it correctly. The smell of feces when I walked in the door was so bad I didn’t want to walk in, but I had to. There is four older kittens, about 3.5-4 months old three with eye issues, and one with a terrible terrible upper respiratory infection. His breathing is not well. He is gasping for air. This kitten cannot breathe. He/she need to immediate care for this respiratory infection. One of these kittens are also very feral meaning he’s not easily caught. He will run away no matter if it hurts him or not I had to catch him with a bed comforter.
I have four other adult age, cats as well. One was very scared and hiding away (about 10 months of age). It took me hours to find her after making sure I had all the cats. All have fleas.
They are all eating and drinking pretty well except for the two extremely scared ones. I will keep monitoring them and working with them.
Now the really saddest part is there are a set of two between one and two week old kittens where each of the kittens has an eye missing. I believe it is from the extremely bad virus that is obviously rampant in that house. There is also two. 3 to 4 week old kittens, one with eyes that are fine and the other one has one very bad eye as well, but the eye is still there.
There is one also four week old kitten who has a double eye infection one is worse than the other, but they periodically closed. One is very red with slight protrusion of eye socket.
I’m asking for so much because I don’t know not know how much this is going to cost. I will see as we go.
However, all of them have fleas and they are still four more at her house that really need flea treatments which I can get for pretty much free, but I’m just sad about the upper respiratory infections and the eyes so if the price goes lower, I will work it out from there. But right now I need to save the youngest kittens with the eye issues.
I can personally afford to get them all checked up flea treated and mostly taking care of what they need food wise but I do need some help. If everyone can just pull together to help a little, it will change so many lives, including humans lives. The situation and not is not just affecting the cats, but is affecting her grandchild who lives there that she is solely the caretaker of.
There is a total of 12 cats eight being adolescent and four being adult. This is huge and luckily, I had an office space where I could keep them comfortable warm with freshwater and food. I’m trying to help this lady so these cats don’t suffer.
I cannot turn my back on them.
So all in all I need help treating these respiratory infections so it doesn’t keep spreading amongst her cats and also the eyes that have clearly gone out of control. I can treat the ones with the upper respiratory infections with eye medicine. She already had but the ones that are much younger with eye problems beyond what I can help they need medical attention and that’s why the price I’m asking for is is so high once I get a vet check up and find a vet that can see them and take them in. I will have a more updated price estimate. Thank you.
These cats are safe and in my care and that is why I had to act fast to stop the respiratory infections from spreading anymore. They all need to be treated and quarantined.
