Help Me Save My Father’s Life – Urgent Guardianship Needed

Hi, my name is Margarita Rodriguez, and I’m urgently asking for your help during the most difficult time of my life.

My father, Carlos Rodriguez, is 88 years old, bedridden, and suffers from advanced dementia. For years, my beloved younger sister Elga was his legal guardian and devoted caregiver. Tragically, she passed away very suddenly from aggressive cancer. Her death not only left a hole in our hearts—it also left our father without a legal guardian.

Now, everything is in crisis.

I lost my job, and I'm doing my best to care for my father on my own. But without legal guardianship, I can’t access any of the critical help he needs:

Doctors refuse to speak with me or provide treatment decisions.

I can’t apply for food stamps or Social Security benefits on his behalf.

The government has complete control over his care, and they are not helping.

Most attorneys require a minimum of $4,000 just to begin a guardianship case in Florida. I don’t have that kind of money, especially after losing my income. And without guardianship, my hands are tied—I cannot legally make medical or financial decisions for my father.

It breaks my heart to watch him suffer, knowing that I could help him if only I had the legal authority to do so.

My father is a deeply loved man—by me, by his grandchildren, and by everyone who has known him throughout his life. He deserves compassion, dignity, and proper care in his final chapter. But I can’t do this alone.
