Urgent Help for Brocky's Medical Needs
Donation protected
In early June, we had to rush our dog, Brocky, to the emergency veterinary clinic. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a way to pay for treatment, but they helped us by performing an X-ray. They discovered that his vomiting and dehydration were caused by an enlarged esophagus, known as Megaesophagus. However, they couldn’t conduct further testing without payment. They advised us to get bloodwork done and visit a regular veterinarian.
They provided special feeding instructions, recommending that Brocky be fed in an upright position and suggested using a Bailey Chair (I found an image online to show what it looks like, but we still don’t have one). Brocky was seen by his new veterinarian at VCA on June 19th, and thankfully, the first visit was free. The vet indicated that he needs to see a neurologist because his vision seemed different; his pupils were dilated, and he began bumping into things.
I was able to schedule an appointment for July 1st to consult with UC Davis Veterinary Services for small animals. The consultation fee is $250, but it does not include any diagnostic testing. I am hopeful we will at least gain some insight into what needs to be done. Once we have a better understanding and a price estimate for the necessary tests, we can focus on treatment options.
This situation is all new for us, and I have also been newly diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Thankfully, my husband is starting a new job, which we hope will help us get back on track. We are praying there is treatment available for Brocky’s vision and megaesophagus issues. Our goal is to one day share a positive outcome.
We are in need of financial assistance to cover the diagnosis and treatment costs upfront. Once we have paid and submitted the claim to pet insurance, we hope to be reimbursed. If you can’t donate, we would greatly appreciate it if you could share our story. Thank you for taking the time to read about our situation. We are grateful for any support.
