A little under a year ago I moved from Oklahoma City to Tulsa. At first everything was fine but then slowly I started experiencing seemingly random and unrelated symptoms. It started as fatigue and my already existing autoimmune condition flaring and getting worse. I had just spent the last two years getting that into remission so I was shocked to see it come back so strong.
From there I began to accumulate a very long laundry list of symptoms. I went to a few different doctors, have gotten several tests done, and nobody could tell me what is going on. So I started doing some research.
I discovered others with very similar stories to mine saying they had found out that they had recently been exposed to a water damaged building and had a biotoxin illness from the mold. The more proper term for the condition is CIRS (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome). Thankfully there is some cheap preliminary testing to see if you might be suffering from CIRS. I completed this testing which includes a VCS test and a related symptom assessment. Between the two tests it appears I have a 98% chance of having CIRS. On top of that I did some mold testing in my house and did in fact find A LOT of growth.
I know it sounds wild because not everybody is affected this way by mycotoxins. But if you’re genetically predisposed towards mold illness/CIRS and/or you have autoimmune problems already then mold can really turn your life upside down. This is what has happened to me.
I have been so sick that it’s very difficult to work. I can’t function normally day to day. I’m living in a tent for the time being until I can figure out a safe housing situation. Since I can’t work much I signed up for SoonerCare in hopes that I could get help paying for the treatment that I need. Unfortunately, there are no CIRS practitioners in Oklahoma but I have been able to find one who operates out of Florida. However, insurance won’t cover it since it’s out of state.
I hate to ask for money like this but I would not be doing so unless I felt like I had no other options. I need help. I’m unable to get the funds on my own to pay for the treatment. I’ve been trying to but living in the tent and being sick everyday is getting harder and harder. So that’s why I’ve set up this GoFundMe. To help me pay for treatment and be able to figure out housing etc. I really don’t know what else to do at this point. Every little bit will be helpful.
Feel free to message me if you want more details. Happy to send you info about CIRS if you’re interested.
