My name is Elisha and I’m a stay-at-home mom in Baltimore doing everything I can to care for my four autistic boys. I’ve always tried to be strong for them, to shield them from the storms of the world… but right now the storm is at our door, and I can’t hold it back alone.

These past months have broken me in ways I never expected. With the government shutdown, our financial situation collapsed almost overnight. Bills kept coming, but help stopped. I’ve stretched every dollar, skipped meals, lost sleep, and prayed for a miracle — anything to keep my boys safe, fed, and stable.

Now we are facing eviction.

Our lights, our water, our basic needs… all at risk.

And the hardest part is looking into my boys’ eyes — kids who already face so many challenges — and trying to pretend everything is okay when inside I’m terrified.

Our only car, the one I rely on to take them to school and therapy, broke down. The repairs and the expired tags are more than I can manage. Every missed day of school sets my son back, and every day without transportation makes our situation feel more hopeless.

I’m not asking out of want — I’m asking out of desperation. I am fighting with everything I have to keep a roof over my children’s heads and to give them the stability they NEED to thrive.
