Urgent Help for Alta's Medical Care, Help Us Save Alta

Miss Altanera “Alta”, is a 13 year old Quarter Horse mare. I am unsure of the entirety of her background, however on 2/25, Alta managed to barrel through her fence. In this incident , she cut the bridge of her nose and her leg has been severely lacerated.

Alta also has severe anxiety due to being fully blind in one eye and partially/majority blind in the other, so it makes for a reactive flight or fight response when attempting to work with her. She will not yet allow us to bandage her wound thus making it even more detrimental to get her seen as soon as possible. However, she is making very good progress in trusting and working with me the past couple of days.

Unfortunately due to the fact I am only working part time since my recovery from chemotherapy and stage four Hodgkin’s lymphoma, I am unable to immediately pay large sums for her vet bills and what needs to be done. I know that this all could add up quick, so that’s why we’ve made this gofund me. All donations will go straight to Alta’s vet bills whether it is for the recovery process or if euthanasia is the proper response. However, we just want to give her a chance.

Alta needs medical intervention immediately. No veterinary clinic local to the area (Selah/Yakima) are willing to see her due to her reactive tendencies. Took making some calls, Her best hope is traveling to Ellensburg for care. Thus making it a bit more difficult.

At this moment, we need help in paying for Alta’s medical bills. You can either donate directly to this or request her file at the veterinary clinic (once she gets up there) and help directly!

UPDATE AS OF 3/4/25

Altanera has a vet appointment tomorrow (3/5/25)! There will be updates on my Facebook as well as Alta’s TikTok and Instagram as soon as we know the next step. We were able to work something out so we can have the vet come to our home so we don’t have to worry about hauling Alta which would be a nightmare lol! 

The past few days we have been able to put some spray medications on her leg and it looks way better than last week at this time.

• She has been getting medication for pain via powder in her grain. She was getting this every 12 hours. She has now made a system where she allows me to hand feed her the entire dosage of grain. 
  
• She is still spooky but she now will approach me and take treats without jumping or spooking as well as allowing me to pet her though the fence!
  
• We have created social media platforms for people who want to follow her story. On both Instagram and TikTok, her handle is “saving.altanera”

I cannot thank you all enough for all of your help and donations and resources. We are blown away by all of this. Alta and I can’t even put into words how grateful we are. Thank you for trusting me and believing in her enough to give her a second chance.
