It is extremely hard for me to ask for help. When it rains, it pours. My husband, Alex, had a heart attack with no prior warning early Sunday morning. We rushed him to our small local hospital, which then transferred him to a second hospital. After additional testing, he was transferred to another larger hospital where he received multiple tests and treatments. We drained our savings paying for medicine that was either not covered and transportation. In a short 24 hours, our world was turned upside down. Alex has multiple medical conditions that this heart attack has caused to get worse. We are now looking at daily trips to multiple specialists to ensure he receives the medical care he needs.

We are in desperate need of some help with funds for transportation. If all of that was not enough, our furnace quit on Friday night, leaving us trying to heat our home with electric heaters and a wood stove, which would be fine if Alex was not already on oxygen. So, on top of needing help with transportation costs, we now have to replace our heating system. We have filled out all the forms and paperwork to try and get help, but as anyone who has ever tried to get help knows, it does not happen overnight, and many programs go by the last 3 months, which in our case doesn't help us now as we already used our emergency funds and every cent we had set aside for regular bills and holidays. This could not have come at a worse time. We greatly appreciate anything that anyone can do to help.
