Hey, I'm Alex, a 30-year-old woman who can't afford the medical testing and treatment I desperately need. Over the last 2 years, my health has deteriorated significantly. I've become so ill that I lost my job and, along with it, my medical insurance. During this time, I've had to fight tooth and nail to get a referral to see a specialist. Now that I've finally seen a specialist, they want me in for a colonoscopy ASAP. I have GI inflammation and bleeding along with other systemic symptoms. They think I have Crohn's Disease, though the possibility of cancer also can't be ruled out until I have the colonoscopy. They need to get the inflammation and bleeding under control, but they can't treat me until I get this test. The self-pay cost for the colonoscopy is $1450 due on the day of the test. The furthest out they were comfortable scheduling me for the test is Tuesday the 29th. Somehow, I need to come up with $1450 before then. That would be absolutely impossible for me to do on my own. I need this test on Tuesday the 29th and I'm desperate for help.
