Two minutes. That's how close Alexandria was to safely arriving at ASL choir practice for General Conference on Sunday afternoon, September 21st, when a devastating car accident in Salt Lake City changed her life forever. At 2:04pm, the car she was riding in was struck, leaving her with broken vertebrae and possible permanent nerve damage in her left leg. Those close to her know she is deaf and was already having a difficult year. She will now need to drop out of this semester of college and can no longer work for the next few months.
Alexandria's hospital bills from the first 3 days will likely exceed $35,000, as she needed an MRI, 2 ambulance rides, heavy pain meds, X-rays, and a CAT scan. She will need much more care on her road to recovery, and her total medical bills will likely be in the range of $70k-$120k.
She has been released from the hospital but requires 24/7 care during her recovery (luckily, much of this care is being provided by close friends nearby). Unfortunately, she just received news that she cannot be on her feet at all for a long time, let alone dance (one of her favorite hobbies).
We're creating this GoFundMe for Alexandria because her medical bills are astronomical, and she needs many small new items that will make her life less difficult at her apartment.
Every bit helps, large or small. You can help Alexandria by donating, or sharing this GoFundMe. Your friend needs as much help as she can get.
***What about insurance?***
Because her medical bills are large, any money from insurance is likely to take months to years to get, and we're not sure it will cover all of her bills. Donations will be given to Alexandria to use for short term care/bills in the immediate aftermath of this accident while she can't work.
