From Gaza's Rubble to a Glimmer of Hope: Urgent Appeal to Evacuate My Family and Provide Life-Saving Treatment for My Sisters.
Hello, my name is Wasim Abu Ahmed.
I am from the Al-Karama neighborhood in northern Gaza City. I achieved academic success by graduating in Multimedia Technology and Business Administration. For years, I have worked as a professional graphic designer, having had wonderful experiences with prestigious clients and companies in Oman, Saudi Arabia, London, and elsewhere.
Before the War: A Decent and Stable Life
I lived a relatively stable and decent life with my family in our beautiful home. We enjoyed peaceful days filled with happiness, but on October 27, 2023, everything changed.
Genocide War: Destruction of Everything
On that fateful day, the genocide war began, and our lives were completely destroyed. We lost our home, our memories, and our work, and the things that were once a natural part of our lives became distant dreams and wishes. I lost my entire work with companies and clients, which was my primary source of income. Today, I don't have enough even to buy a new computer or to meet the most basic needs of life.
My Family: Ten Members in Distress
My family consists of ten members: myself, my wife, and our three children, Hala (7 years old), Jouri (6 years old), and Cham (4 years old). Additionally, my father Magdy (65 years old), my mother Syham (56 years old), and my three sisters: Alaa (29 years old), Noor (25 years old), and Farah (20 years old).
Since the beginning of the war, and after more than ten months, we have been forced to continuously move from northern Gaza to its south. During that painful journey and the great suffering of living in a small tent with no basic human necessities, we faced a near-death experience when we were subjected to an airstrike. That moment, which almost ended our lives, will never be forgotten. Miraculously, we all survived, but my three sisters sustained severe injuries requiring urgent treatment outside Gaza.
From Wedding to Severe Injuries:
From dreaming of preparing for my sister Alaa and Noor's wedding to facing the reality of their severe injuries, there can be no greater contrast.
Imagine with me the scene at 2:18 AM, when we were asleep, safe in our home. Suddenly, a massive explosion rocked the neighborhood, waking us to sounds of fear and destruction. Amid the darkness and rubble, I heard the screams of my sisters and family members. Alaa, who was about to celebrate her wedding, was lying under the debris, with Farah barely recognizable next to her, while nothing of Noor was visible except for her faint breathing under the rubble.
What We Need Now: Your Urgent Help
The cost of traveling to Egypt through the only approved company (Yahla Travel and Tourism) is $5,000 per adult and $2,500 for children under 16 years old. Saving our family requires overcoming enormous financial and administrative challenges. We need to secure safe passage to Egypt, along with providing housing, purchasing basic necessities upon arrival, and conducting medical exams and treatment, including a new computer so I can continue my work.
Severity of Injuries: Immediate Treatment Needed
My three sisters face severe injuries that worsen day by day. There is a real risk that these injuries may lead to limb amputation if we do not receive the necessary treatment immediately. My sister Farah, for example, needs an urgent tendon transplant due to her injury in her heel.
GoFundMe Appeal: A Ray of Hope in Darkness
Through GoFundMe, I urge you with all hope to be the light that saves us in this darkness. Your contributions will not only provide us with basic necessities like food and medical treatment but will also restore our ability to rebuild our lives and my professional future.
How You Can Help:
Donations: Any amount you contribute will be a step towards securing the necessary treatment for my sisters and overcoming the financial and logistical challenges of crossing the border to Egypt.
Sharing: By sharing our story, you help expand the circle of hope, which can change our lives.
Support: Any resources or assistance you can provide will be of great value to us in our quest for safety and stability.
Your contribution is a lifeline for my family and many other families like ours. It will not only provide the basic necessities such as food, medical care, and shelter but will also restore the tools I need to rebuild my career as a graphic designer. Your generosity will give our family a new lease on life and ignite the hope and inspiration that can help us overcome these harsh circumstances.
Thank you so much for your support and generosity.
