EMERGENCY FUNDING NEEDED TO REPLACE OUR ROOF
Hero's Corner is more than just a building—it is a beacon of hope, safety, and belonging for veterans in Grand Rapids, Michigan. However, this vital sanctuary is at risk.
Our aging 1970s flat roof is deteriorating rapidly, with leaks and structural weaknesses threatening the integrity of our facility. Without immediate action, we face potential disruptions to the essential services we provide to the brave men and women who have already sacrificed so much for our country.
Why It Matters:
Every day, we witness the struggles our veterans face-homelessness, isolation, mental health challenges, and financial hardship. Hero's Corner is their safe haven, a place where they can heal, connect, and rebuild their lives. Without a solid roof over their heads, how can we continue to provide this critical support? We cannot allow a failing roof to be the reason veterans lose this vital space.
This is not just about repairing a building; it's about protecting a community that has already given everything for our nation.
Our Goal: $40,000
Hero's & SHero's Corner is an 8,800-square-foot facility that serves as a substance-free and mental health barrier-free space for all veterans and their families. Our roof damage extends beyond just leaks-ceiling tiles and interior walls have been affected, creating unsafe conditions that could force us to shut down.
This funding will allow us to complete:
- A full roof replacement to prevent further structural damage
- Ceiling and interior repairs to ensure a safe, comfortable space and continued support for veterans facing PTSD, homelessness, and life's daily struggles.
- This will also preserve our dedicated women's veteran space, which is also at risk of closing.
