Aloha, we are Sherry and Dan Walters from Oahu, Hawaii. We are reaching out today on behalf of someone incredibly dear to our hearts—our closest friend of 10 years, Eva. If you know Eva, you know she is the definition of love, care, and compassion. She is always the first person to step up for others, and now, she needs our community to rally around her.

Eva’s home has suffered severe damage and is no longer the safe haven it should be. We want to take the heavy burden of repairs off her shoulders so she can live safely and peacefully.

We are reaching out to the global and local community to ask for urgent help for Eva Makk. At 92 years old, Eva’s life has been upended by two compounding tragedies. This past July, she suffered the sudden and devastating loss of her beloved son, AB. While processing this immense grief, severe weather—including a harsh Kona Low and Tropical Storm Lala—struck her home, leaving her roof and skylight severely damaged and leaking heavily.

Eva is currently fighting cancer. Navigating this health battle under a failing roof while mourning her son has put her in an incredibly vulnerable position. During the heavy rains, Eva was forced to place buckets throughout her house to collect the downpour. Because of the enormous amount of leaks, it was impossible to catch all the water.

Tragically, some of Eva's irreplaceable art has already been damaged. The remaining historical artwork is in immediate danger from future rain, and we are deeply concerned about toxic mold growing if the roof and skylight are not replaced immediately. Shockingly, her insurance company has refused to pay for a replacement roof or skylight.

Beyond the roof crisis, Eva's home needs critical repairs to ensure a safe, sanitary living environment while she undergoes cancer treatments. Multiple essential fixtures have deteriorated and must be replaced, including the windows, patio doors, kitchen doors, door latches, shower door, and sink faucets.

Eva Makk is a world-renowned Hungarian-American impressionist and realism painter. Celebrated as "The world's foremost living impressionist painter," her highly sought-after portrait commissions include President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan, Hollywood celebrities, Princess Kyoko Osano of Japan, and prominent Hawaiian dignitaries.

Alongside her late husband, Americo Makk, Eva achieved historical significance by painting vast murals across 14 cathedrals and churches on two continents - a collaborative feat unmatched in modern art history.

For the past 50 years, Eva has used her immense talent to give back, donating hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of her art to charities in Hawaii and across the globe. Now, in her darkest hour, she desperately needs the world to give back to her.
