As some of you know, my world was recently turned upside down by a diagnosis of Esophageal Cancer, which has also spread to my liver. Fortunately, the diagnosis was made at an early stage, giving me a fighting chance.

Despite having Medicare, the financial shock has been overwhelming. I've upgraded my plan for better coverage, but I'm already facing thousands of dollars in medical bills that I can't manage on my own.

My wife and I are on a fixed income. Our two Social Security checks cover our rent and basic utilities, and food. There was never much left after that, but my recent cancer diagnosis made it impossible even to buy food. I weighed just over a hundred pounds before my diagnosis, and I'm now on a feeding tube and medically required to gain weight to survive treatment, but we have no money for the expensive nutritional formula I need. We are out of options.
