I'm writing on behalf of my friend Betty, a senior who has been living in the same home in Sherman Oaks for over 32 years. My goal is to raise $3,500 to help cover her living expenses for March. I'm really worried about her financial and emotional well-being after her landlord unexpectedly hiked her rent by an inordinate amount, making it now $3,100.
If you know Betty, you know she’s a dedicated worker, tirelessly hustling as a photographer and makeup artist and caregiver. She recently lost a new long-term job as a caretaker when her client’s home was damaged in the recent fires. On top of that, she’s also losing her housemate which leaves her in a tough spot to come up with the full rent.
Betty is incredibly selfless and devoted to the care and wellbeing for all of her rescue dogs, which naturally exacerbates her worries and stress. I’m genuinely concerned that she and her pets could end up homeless.
She’s actively job hunting, but we all know how tough this economy is, especially for seniors. Betty needs assistance with her rent for March, as well as utilities and care for her dogs.
She’s always been there for others, and I hope people will consider helping. No contribution is too small. I’ve known Betty for 22 years, and she’s always been gracious and humble, only asking for help when it comes to her dogs, who are like her children. Please share this GoFundMe so we can raise enough money for Betty to cover March expenses so she can at least have some time to figure out her next steps for herself and her dogs. Thank you!
