Since August, after my second Covid infection, I have been bedbound and severely ill, living with Long Covid, MCAS and ME/CFS symptoms without a formal diagnosis or proper medical support. My primary care doctor refuses to diagnose or treat these conditions, and I have been unable to access appropriate care under my insurance.
I am bedbound 24/7 and in constant pain. I experience severe muscle pain and spasms, crushing fatigue, dizziness, heart palpitations, blurred vision, near-fainting episodes, and difficulty breathing in certain positions. I also have unpredictable allergic-type reactions to foods, medications, fragrances, and environments, including throat swelling, itching, rashes, and worsening pain.
I cannot attend in-person medical appointments due to the severity of my condition, yet providers who accept my insurance require in-person visits even to establish care. I have been unable to find telemedicine or other in-home providers under my insurance, leaving me medically neglected and without treatment. My nearest allergist/immunologist appointment isn’t until June.
I can only tolerate three foods: potatoes, eggs, and pumpkin seeds. I react to all multivitamins and medications I’ve tried. I am severely malnourished and underweight (around 100 pounds), and my health continues to decline. My hair is falling out, my nails are brittle, my skin is dry and breaking, and I am too weak to care for myself.
I have no pain control treatment. I can't afford the compounded pain medication I need. I rely on heating pads constantly just to endure the pain, leaving burn marks on my legs. I manage symptoms only with an expensive over the counter pain cream that somewhat helps but that I cannot go without.
I cannot reliably make it to the bathroom due to pain and weakness and often need bedside solutions. I haven’t been able to bathe or wash my hair in months. I sleep in dirty bedsheets because I cannot clean or change them myself. Due to unsafe living conditions, ants have begun entering my room and crawling into my bed, biting me and triggering symptom flares. There is also mold in my living space, making it extremely unsafe for someone this ill.
I currently live with abusive and financially controlling family members who refuse to provide consistent care. Medicaid has not approved the medical equipment or home care I need. I am waiting on a social worker to help secure food assistance and try to figure out safer housing as there are no options available for young bedbound and disabled with my medical needs but until then, I am completely alone most of the day, isolated and dependent on a friend who briefly helps me eat after work. They are no longer able to provide support carrying forward. With that support no longer available, it will leave me with no option but to rely on family members who have a history of abuse and ongoing mistreatment, placing me at further risk.
I have no income, no disability benefits, and no access to food assistance. I have exhausted all of my past work savings trying to survive. I am terrified that if my condition worsens and I end up in the ER, for a facility that will not accommodate my medical needs, I will not be treated safely or appropriately due to lack of awareness of Long COVID, ME/CFS and MCAS where I live.
I am asking for help because this situation is not survivable without intervention. I am not asking for luxury, only for the chance to survive, stabilize, access care a safe space and regain some dignity while I fight to stay alive.
Immediate Needs (First $1,200)
The first $1,000 raised will go directly toward urgent nutritional support, compounded MCAS medications not covered by insurance, antihistamines and mast cell–stabilizing supplements to help stabilize my condition while I wait for prescribed treatment.
Overall Fundraising Goal: $5,000
The remaining funds will support essential survival and medical needs, including:
• In-home caregiver to help with eating, hygiene, and basic daily needs
• Cleaning and sanitation to restore safe living conditions
• Private specialists medical care and telemedicine appointments
• Pain management supplies and medications
• MCAS safe groceries, nutritional support, and delivery services
• Medical equipment and mobility aids (such as a wheelchair, bedside commode, overbed table)
• Transportation for medical appointments or emergency in worst case scenario.
• COVID safety supplies such as high-quality masks, nasal sprays, HEPA filters replacements and mouthwash.
• Access to nutritional shakes, meal replacements, antihistsmines and mast cell stabilizers which are critical to stabilizing my health and preventing further decline.
Long Covid has taken my health, independence, income, and sense of safety. I am doing everything I can to survive under impossible circumstances, but I cannot do this alone. Any support, whether through donations or sharing this campaign, could make a life saving difference. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for helping where systems have failed.
