Hello! My name is Kai and my wife's name is Fiona. I am a disabled trans man and she is a disabled trans woman.

Unfortunately, due to the current political climate, we must leave our home in North Carolina. This is absolutely heartbreaking for us, but we are no longer safe here.

Fiona is being harassed on the street every single day as she tries to go to work or run errands. She is afraid to leave our home on her own. We have been confronted by strangers yelling homophobic and transphobic slurs while threatening to "beat our asses" as we were just trying to walk our dog.

Every day existence has become frightening here. We live in fear of the day that someone may choose to inflict physical violence on us.

We've been forced into an impossible situation; stay and risk everything, or flee for our lives.

We're choosing to survive.

We are turning to our community for help with the cost of relocation. Our plan is to relocate to Minnesota. We chose this state because legislation has passed there that protects trans people from discrimination and ensures access to gender affirming health care. We would also be close to the Canadian border, in case we end up needing to leave the United States.

-obtaining our passports

-winter clothes and shoes for both of us

-cost of necessary prescription medications
