Since 2020, in partnership with local Chiefs in Lofa County, Liberia, the Liberia Feed Yourself Agriculture Initiative has committed to sending over 130 children to school. School in Liberia is not free, and when we first began working with the community on land use, we agreed that real progress meant investing in the future of the children through education.
For five years, we’ve kept 136 children enrolled and learning through a mix of community reinvestment and generous donations. But this year, one school changed its policy: tuition must now be paid in full at the start of the year, instead of in installments.
As of September 1st, 38 children from Sharon Christian Memorial Elementary School are sitting at home, unable to join their classmates. They won’t be admitted until tuition is fully paid.
We’ve already raised $1,935, but the total needed is $2,660. That means we only need $725 more to get every child back in class where they belong.
$725 is the difference between 38 children being left behind or returning to school.
Every dollar helps:
- $70 sponsors one child’s tuition for the year
- $35 covers half a child’s tuition
- Even $10 gets us closer to our goal
With your help, we can solve this urgent problem today and keep these kids learning.
