Urgent Heart Surgery Needed for our Puppy Maisy

Hi everyone. My name is Baylee Min, and my boyfriend Andrew Luers and I recently adopted a puppy from a small rescue in Northeast, Ohio. We had been looking to adopt a dog for a few months at this point, and when we saw Maisy (our pup), we fell in love. We brought her home on January 26, 2025, and were ready to start our lives as a little family.

On January 27, 2025, we took Maisy to the vet to make sure she was nice and healthy after taking her home the night prior. Unfortunately, we were told heartbreaking news. The veterinarian came into the room and informed us that Maisy had a severe heart murmur (grade 5 out of 6 in severity) that could be deadly. The veterinarian then referred us to MedVet for a cardiologist appointment the following week.

We recently got back from the cardiologist and received bad good news, to put it lightly. Maisy has one of the few congenital heart defects (Patent ductus arteriosus) that can be corrected with surgery. However, we need to schedule this surgery as soon as possible to help her, as the doctor mentioned her left heart already has mild dilation which will worsen with time.
