I was born with a bicuspid valve, unlike most people who have a tricuspid valve. Over time, my valve has calcified and become a ticking time bomb. Without surgery, my doctor says I could have less than two years to live. Complicating matters, I also have an aneurysm in my aortic artery that needs to be replaced during the procedure. This surgery is critical and urgent.

The funds raised will help cover medical bills, copays, and essential household expenses like water, electricity, mortgage, car payments, and insurance. My recovery will take up to 12 weeks, during which I won't be able to contribute financially. My wife, Jennifer James, has been my rock through all of this. We have four wonderful kids and four beautiful grandkids who have been incredibly supportive. I am truly lucky to have such a loving family.

After my recovery, I look forward to returning to work and spending quality time with my family. In February, I plan to travel to Maryland to watch my son graduate from AIT as a combat photographer, a moment we are all proud of. Our two-year anniversary is just before my surgery, and while celebrations are on hold, I hope to do something special with Jennifer once I'm back on my feet. Her support has been a godsend, and I am grateful for her understanding and love.
