RESCUED HORSES IN BC & ALBERTA NEED YOUR HELP!

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Natasha and I am a volunteer with a BC based horse rescue called Humanity for Horses Rescue and Rehab. This rescue has been saving horses from slaughter in BC and Alberta for many years. They are also advocates against the live export of horses to Asia for food consumption. After following this organization for a few weeks and seeing the amazing work they were doing, I knew I wanted to be involved in some capacity despite living across the country. As a result, I now assist them with their social media and fundraising whenever possible. Which brings me to this particular situation...

Lately, the rescue has been bombarded with massive vet bills and despite our best efforts, we simply have not been able to raise enough funds to cover our costs. More specifically, two of our horses have required or will soon require costly surgeries.

Meet Amyr (pictured above) an 8 year old Caspian pony stud. He was rescued almost 2 years ago and was completely unhandled. After working with our trainer for many months, he was finally booked for his gelding. That's when we found out he was a crypt and would eventually require a second surgery to remove his undescended testicle. Unfortunately after his gelding operation, Amyr reverted back to his previous behaviours and wanted nothing to do with anyone. Again our trainer worked her magic and after many months his crypt surgery was finally booked this week in Langley. Thankfully, Amyr is now in recovery , however his surgery did take 4 hours and he will require additional time being monitored at the clinic. Consequently our vet bill for this is $3800!!!!

Our second horse is Casanova, an 18 year old Percheron stud who is scheduled for a gelding operation on August 23rd. Casanova was saved by the rescue last month. Because he is a senior breeding stallion, this operation is considered high risk for complications due to heart size and bleeding. Nonetheless we would like to proceed so that he may live a happy herd life for the rest of his days. After a lengthy search for an experienced vet, we have finally found one near Calgary whom we know will provide this horse will excellent care. Additionally, Casanova will also require a 3 night stay at the clinic to ensure his safe recovery. Consequently we have been quoted for a total cost of $1550!!!! NOTE: So far we have raised $600.

As you can see, we are in urgent need of funds to pay our current and upcoming vet bills. We know we cannot do this alone and would appreciate your donations. The quicker we can pay off these bills, the quicker we can find amazing homes for these horses and get back to saving others in need.

NOTE: Any funds raised above and beyond our goal will be used towards other current and future vet bills.

Thank you to everyone in advance! We truly appreciate your support!
