Urgent Funds Needed for Daniel's Life-Saving Heart Surgery
Donation protected
Hi there,
As some of you might know, my sister Brooklyn moved to Kenya in 2015. She's lived there ever since, serving a small village and its community of children living on the streets. During her 9 years in Isiolo, she has raised and supported multiple boys (20+) that lived on the streets for various reasons.
But today I'm asking for your help to raise emergency medical funds for a specific boy in her care, Daniel Ng'oroko. Daniel is 17 years old and is the youngest of 11 siblings. A few weeks ago, Daniel's father passed away from undiagnosed squamous cell carcinoma in his esophagus. Not only was losing his father heartbreaking for him and his family, but in June, Daniel had to return to Brooklyn's from school because he was becoming quite sick.
They originally started Daniel on medication for TB, but he continued to quickly decline, so he was referred to another town over for an EKG and echo. That's when they found out he would need an immediate mitral valve replacement. Yet since then, other tests and scans suggest that he actually needs a double valve replacement, both mitral and aortic valves replaced.
Brooklyn and Daniel's next steps are to visit a cardiologist at a mission's hospital 8 hours away to confirm the results and move forward with the life-saving surgery he needs. They are hoping to get in within the week and get his surgery scheduled ASAP. Why I'm asking for your help is the cost of surgery is $12,000 and that doesn't even include any travel or stay.
How it works in Kenya, in order for Daniel to receive the surgery, they have to have the funds beforehand. Daniel's prognosis without the surgery is either a stroke because his blood is currently clotting inside his heart because it's unable to flow out, or he will go into complete heart failure.
Anything you could give would mean the world as there is no way they can currently afford his surgery, and his heart and his life depend on it.
Thank you in advance for any donations!
