Urgent Funds for Gideon's Medical Procedure

Gideon is a 8.5 year old Great Dane. For a majority of his life he has been the healthiest boy and an easy keeper. However, over the last year he has had some medical concerns and has been monitored closely. We have ruled out some health issues but have recently found out that he has Hyperparathyroidism. Hyperparathyroidism is a rare disease in dogs that occurs when the parathyroid glands produce too much parathyroid hormone (PTH), which regulates calcium levels in the blood. This leads to high blood calcium levels, which can cause a variety of symptoms. The most common cause is a parathyroid tumor. There aren’t any medications that can just treat this so we have to resort to advanced imaging such as MRI, CT or ultrasound and he will have to undergo surgery to remove the tumor. As I’m sure you know, those advanced imaging options come with a big price tag as well as having to go to a specialist to get the procedure done to remove the tumor(s).

Gideon's mom (owner) has had a lot of medical expenses with a few of her dogs over the last 2 years, she takes the best care of all her furry family members and has such a big heart and has often taken on other animals that had nowhere else to go. This has unfortunately made it so right now, she just simply doesn't have the funds to get this procedure done. It needs to be done as soon as possible so his symptoms and quality of life don’t get worse. It is hard for her to ask for help with anything, including her animals, so I'm doing it for her .
