My name is Brin, I am a full time student, part time worker at an art store, and a full time parent of two beautiful babies that are almost 9 and almost 6. I am non-binary, and I am scheduled for my top surgery procedure on May 12, 2026. I unfortunately have to resign from my job since I am a part time employee and I haven't been there for more than six months and I will be gone longer than two weeks. My marital spouse, whose insurance I am on, was just let go (4/13/2026) and this means that we will be losing insurance at the end of the month, just before my scheduled surgery. While I was already in a hard place with having to resign from my job, this now puts an even more intense strain on the already challenging circumstances. Any money raised will contribute to the cost of the surgical procedure which will now be self pay, and monthly living expenses to support us until my spouse can secure another job and I can apply back for my position if it is still open for me when I am ready to return to work. I need this surgery so I can feel at home in my body. I am getting my surgery through U of M, which if you know they are also in negotiation with BCBS and may not be covering services for U of M after the end of June, so time is of the essence unfortunately. Thank you for your time to read this.
