Urgent Funds for a Non-EU Student to Stay in the Netherlands
Donation protected
Hi! I’m helping fundraise for a black and queer student to urgently raise funds to stay in the Netherlands (and the EU), to be able to re-enrol in uni (allowing them to also renew their visa), and to keep their housing.
This money will be used to pay off debt that they currently have to their university as they had to drop out of their research masters program due to non-EU fees being incredibly high. Due to university policy, they can only re-enrol in the one-year version of their masters once this debt has been cleared.
Their re-enrolment is what secures their current housing and student visa to stay in the Netherlands. Returning home isn't an option as being queer is punishable by law in their home country and the economic situation there is so unstable that if they return, they may never be able to leave again. As such, staying in Amsterdam and continuing their education is a top priority and a complete necessity for their livelihood.
The deadline for paying back these debts in order to re-enrol is in August, however, we are collecting donations as soon as possible in case the visa application process in June hinges on this as well.
We appreciate any and all donations and please feel free to share around!
