SUPPORT JOURNALIST TO WRITE AGAINST THE ANTI-LGBTQ+-BILL
We are supporting ghanaian journalists to advocate against the anti-lgbtq-bill. Our goal is to raise 3000 swiss francs until next week.
Short insight: What's happening in Ghana?
Ghana passes a bill making identifying as LGBTQ+ illegal. The parliament has passed the bill and it's now up to the president to assent or veto against it.
Further details of the recent situation and the bill:
Details of the bill:
The bill includes imprisonment of LGBTQ+ identities and "related activities" up to 3 years, supporters, donors, activists or promoters up to 3 to 5 years. This bill takes away not only the basic human rights but also the rights of speech, freedom of assembly and freedom of the press.
What we do:
This law is a very sensitive issue in Ghana at the moment. Some media outlets have a limited view and do not take into consideration the opinions of minorities in Ghana. It is also a risk for some journalists to fight against these opinions.
What we do:
-Supporting local Ghanaian journalists to write pro LGBTQ+
-Financing articles with broad-minded views on the anti-LGBTQ+-Bill; where it comes from, sponsors of the bill, dangers and consequences
-Collaboration with the local LGBTQ community and co-development of newspaper articles and online publications
-Collaboration with the newspaper "the new publisher" and particularly with the journalist Justice Dzido (journalist, consultant, PR writer, editor)
-Cooperation with local activist as Va-Bene: (https://www.crazinistartist.com/biography/)
