Help a Malaysian PhD Student in the UK

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
Assalamualaikum WBT and warm greetings,
My name is Siti Husmila Binti Hussin, a Malaysian currently in my second year of PhD studies in Business and Technology at the University of Sunderland, United Kingdom.
Pursuing a PhD abroad has always been my dream — and like many dreams, the journey is filled with sacrifices, challenges, and unexpected trials. Today, I find myself at a critical crossroads. Despite all efforts, I am now struggling to pay my upcoming tuition fees, which are due this May. With great humility and a hopeful heart, I am reaching out for your support.
When I first arrived in the UK, I funded everything independently — from my visa, flights, and living expenses to my first year’s tuition — using savings from my work as a lecturer in Malaysia, along with support from my husband. We were hopeful and determined. But life abroad is not easy. Over the past year, my in-laws, who were a major source of financial and moral support, have faced hardship. Meanwhile, I have done everything I can within the limits of my student visa — teaching part-time at a school and college, attending interviews, and even taking on jobs many would overlook.
There were moments I cried in silence, wondering if I would have to abandon my PhD — not because I lacked passion or progress, but simply because I could no longer afford the fees. Yet each time I faltered, Allah sent me strength — in the form of kind words from my supervisor, encouragement from loved ones, and small victories in my research journey.
Alhamdulillah, I recently passed my first-year PhD review, have presented at academic conferences, and continue to work hard — not just for myself, but for the future of education in Malaysia, and the dream I carry on behalf of many who wished to go further but couldn’t.
I am now in urgent need of support to cover my tuition fees. Every contribution — no matter how small — means the world to me. It is more than financial help; it is a gesture of hope, solidarity, and belief in someone striving to rise.
If you are unable to donate, your prayers and help in sharing this campaign are just as valuable.
From the bottom of my heart — thank you.
May Allah reward your kindness in ways beyond measure.
With sincere gratitude,
Siti Husmila Binti Hussin
