Urgent funding for Clover

Donation protected

I whole heartily don’t know where to start and I’ve sat here thinking over starting this page and working through my own guilt for not having the funding readily available to help my own dog.

Friday evening, my sweet 2 year old Shih Tzu Clover was in my own (fenced) back yard doing her business as dogs do. I went to check on both her and my other Shih Tzu, because I’m overprotective and like to ensure they’re okay. They were nothing sniffling around in the grass. When I called them in, only one came running.

I called Clover and she wasn’t coming, this is very out of character for her. So I reluctantly put my shoes and coat on to see what she was up to. I found her near my fence nose deep in something on the ground, as I approached her she gobbled something up and ran. Moments later she was flopped over convulsing and foaming at the mouth. Being in the Veternairy field myself, I knew this was not good, I scooped her up and off to the emergency hospital.

At the emergency hospital they were able to stabilize her and asked if she had gotten into anything. We discussed that she could’ve gotten something from the grass in my backyard but otherwise no. The clinic staff ordered someone to go home and check the yard. This is when more hotdogs with some sort of tablets were found thrown over my fence from the street. We have since found out these hotdogs were laced with rat poison. Because if this Clover’s organs are in server danger of shutting down and required a transfer to a specialist and emergency clinic where she could have a blood transfusion, a slew of other tests and possible surgery.

At this point, I have cleared out my savings at the first vet clinic and now this clinic with a down deposit. I have to come up with an additional $5,000 to help cover more transfusions, supportive care in the ICU, continuous medications and blood work, likely surgery on Monday if she’s strong enough and now a possible feeding tube.

Clover is a feisty beautiful dog, whose been a big part of my family since joining us. She has been a huge support for my mother who is dealing with ptsd after someone’s attempted suicide by jumping in front of her car. She was named after out two previous Shih Tzu’s, Cleo and Oliver and carries on their memory. As a family we owe it to this little girl to do everything we can for her.

Any help anyone is able to offer is greatly appreciated and if anything is left over for whatever reason I will pay it forward and donate to another family in need with their pets needs. If you can’t offer anything, please just keep this little lady in your thoughts. Thank you for your time and listening to a worried dog momma ramble.
