Urgent: Fund Top Surgery for a Trans Iowan

Bad news: Iowa Medicaid is no longer honoring transgender healthcare coverage, specifically surgeries. I found out today (March 7, 2025), after four months of trying to get Iowa Medicaid specifically to get top surgery.

I am a broke disabled trans guy who makes $500~ a month at his part-time job. I hate asking for help, but with the political climate growing as dangerous as it is, I need to get this surgery done as soon as possible, before Kremlin Reynolds tries to take away my right to do so.

Top surgery is something I've dreamed of and begged for since I was in high school. It is a necessary surgery, not just for my mental health but for my physical health as well. I've been seeking out top surgery for seven years now, and I cannot wait any longer because my rights as a trans Iowan are being threatened.

The surgeon estimated the surgery at about $8,700. I've set this goal at $9,500 for wiggle room and recovery costs.
