Our step father, Peter Schiulaz, recently suffered a serious fall that resulted in a fractured hip. This isn’t the first time Peter has faced this challenge—17 years ago he endured a major accident falling 30feet from a roof and breaking the same hip. Unfortunately, this new injury has made things even more complicated.

Doctors have advised that repairing the fracture isn’t the best option, as it would likely leave Pete with very limited mobility, possibly confined to a wheelchair. Instead, they strongly recommend a full hip replacement so that he has the best chance of regaining independence and quality of life.

Sadly, this procedure cannot be done at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and must be performed privately. The cost is significant and far beyond what Pete can manage on his own, especially as he is still grieving the recent loss of his beloved wife.
