COVID 19 Hygiene supplies for refugees in Turkey

HELP US PROVIDE URGENT HYIGENE MATERIALS FOR REFUGEES IN IZMIR, TURKEY, WHO ARE SUFFERING DUE TO COVID 19. 

Unfortunately, the Coronavirus pandemic is still having a devastating impact around the world. We have seen the pandemic spread like wildfire through overcrowded, under-resourced refugee camps in Europe and beyond. 

Turkey is the country that hosts the most refugees globally- over 3 million displaced people are temporarily protected in Turkey, most having fled across the border with Syria as the civil war expanded. In the Izmir region of Turkey alone there are 50,000 registered displaced families living in informal settlements. The sanitary situation in the unofficial refugee camps of the Izmir region hasn’t changed - no access to proper latrines or clean water and a short supply of hygiene products. Additionally there is little knowledge in the camps population about the pandemic,  sanitation practises such as hand washing. Finally there is also very limited access to Turkish hospitals and health care.

Imece has been working in these camps since 2014 distributing food, hygiene products and other basic items. They have conducted mobile education programs, solar engineering classes for women and a back to school program for the children and have deep roots within the Syrian community. The Coronavirus pandemic has put us all in a new position, but we are adapting, we are surviving and we are helping. We need your help now more than ever.

To counter and slow the spread of the virus, education about the pandemic, and resources to maintain hygiene practices are essential.

Thanks to your support we've already provided hygiene packs to 2600 families across Izmir during the coronavirus crisis, but there are many more than need our help. 


We desperately need you help and support to provide for the people that need it most. A potentially life saving sanitation pack costs 120 tl (€17). This pack is enough for 1 family for 1 month and includes:

10 soaps (200gr piece)
2 Shampoos (500ml bottle),
2 Flee Shampoos (100ml bottle),
2 packages Washing Powder - hand-washing (5kg package)
4 bottles Dish washing detergent - hand-washing (1l bottles)
4 packages Wet Wipes for baby skin (100 pieces in a package)
10 bottles Antibacterial hand Gel (50ml bottle)
2 bottles of distilled/spirit vinegar for general hygiene maintenance (5l bottle)
