Urgent financial support needed for Tara Myketiak

Message from Tara:

I have a hard time asking for help, but I genuinely appreciate the support. This year has been incredibly challenging for me. I've needed more time off work than I anticipated, as EDMP advised me to delay my return. I applied for Worksafe, but with a 3-4 month wait to see a psychiatrist, I have not been receiving benefits during this period. While I am grateful for the time off to focus on my health, the financial impact has been devastating. I hope to cover my rent for October and truly appreciate any generosity and support you can provide.

I’m creating this fundraiser to support a dear friend who is in immediate financial need. I’m keeping it anonymous out of respect for the person’s right to confidentiality. This person has worked tirelessly in the DTES for over 12 years on the frontlines. They have helped so many overcome barriers to access support over the years, yet now they are facing those same barriers as they take a much needed medical leave from the work.

Their story is not mine to tell, but I will say that we all know how hard it can be to access systems of support when we are in a time of crisis. Not only do things take forever, but they often fall short when approved.

This is a chance for us as a community to support someone to take the time to get well without fear of losing their housing or not being able to pay bills. This individual has given 12 years to the community saving lives and now is our chance to take care of them.

Funds will be used to pay rent, bills, and pay for medication while on leave from work; alleviating some of the financial strain so our friend can focus on getting well ❤️‍
