Urgent fence and medical support for the Segers

Donation protected
Yesterday ( 1-14-23) we were just finishing up showering outdoors which is located a few feet from our horses roped stall. My husband still in the outdoor shower with 3 yr old Son and I putting our 1 yr old to bed while 8yr old daughter is in her room getting ready for bedtime stories, when all of a sudden a loud rush of barking dogs and aggressive hunters yelling “ go get ‘em boys!” were in our yard. It was dark, the pig hunters thought our peaceful horse eating his dinner was a pig. My husband (in his towel ) and I in my underwear rushed out to find our beloved child’s horse being brutally attacked by a large pack of big angry wild Pitbull mix hunting dogs. Our daughter grabbed her little brothers from outside and rushed them inside. Our horse fighting for his life was no match for this ruthless pack of dogs. They were completely out of control. Their owners stood just watching helpless with no leash’s or gun to stop or kill their dogs. My husband and I did what we could to remove the dogs off of our horse Champ but in the attempt of doing so we both got attacked and terribly injured by the dogs. We finally were able to get Champ off the ground and chase him out of his stall so he could out run the dogs and hide else where on the 3 acre. farm. While this is all happening, our terrified 3 Children ( 8, 3 and 1) huddled together in horror in their room just a few feet from Champs stall watching and listening to the traumatic sound of their parents and horse getting mutilated. I rushed to check on the children and call 911. The hunters ran off just before the cops arrived. Before assessing our wounds we had to find Champ. We tracked a trail of blood to find him bleeding out an acre away from his stall. We pleaded to the cops to put him out of his misery. The cops agreed and waited till we rushed ourselves and children off to the ER so they didn’t hear their horse being shot. My husband and I received medical treatment for our multiple deep bites. Which required cutting tissue out, stitches, X-ray, antibiotics, tetanus shot and bandages. On top of all these painful body injuries, whiplash, vocal cord damage and mental trauma we received from the attacks I am extremely nauseous pregnant. The next morning we said our goodbyes to our dear Champ and a back hoe came to bury him where he was lying. We are beyond devastated and are deeply mourning his death. He was an absolutely perfect child’s pony, extremely healthy and professionally trained. He was family to us. As far as insurance goes, my husband doesn’t have insurance and is the income for our family. He is a landscaper/ manual laborer and is unable to use his arm till it is healed. Our road of recovery duration is a mystery and we’re taking it day by day. We hope to be back on our feet by the end the week but the future is so unknown and we are already fighting infections. As much as I’m trying to remain strong for my family this has caused a fair deal of PTSD for me in particular and may seriously need further assistance so prayers are greatly appreciated. This is not the first time we’ve had dangerous human trespassers and wild dogs damaging our property and killing our livestock. These dogs could’ve easily killed our children. It is urgent we get this 3acre land fenced. We have not received confirmation yet that the hunters and dogs have been arrested and if they are able to compensate all the damages they committed. We are reaching out to our community in hopes to help ease this challenging time and financial burden. Any amount you can donate would be extremely helpful. We will do our best at keeping you all updated. Thank you from us all and God bless!!!
