My mom is from a village in Sudan called Tambol, in Al Jazira state, not far from Medani. This village is home to many of my family members—my mom’s siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles—all of whom were unable to escape when the war erupted. For months, they’ve been enduring unbearable conditions: no electricity, cholera outbreaks, soaring inflation, and relentless harassment from the RSF (Rapid Support Forces).

The violence in our region of Al Jazeera in Sudan has grown unimaginably severe. Lists of the injured and deceased are increasing by the hour, and families like ours are facing an unimaginable reality.

I am reaching out on behalf of my family, who are currently in a life-or-death situation. Many members of our family have been forced to flee for their lives due to the escalating violence. My mother and her brothers, part of a family of 21 siblings, face the heartbreaking choice of deciding which loved ones to assist in this critical moment.

Before my family managed to escape, they endured horrifying violence at the hands of the RSF. Men and boys were rounded up, beaten, and severely injured. My uncle, already struggling with critical health issues, was mercilessly attacked, his foot broken as he was taunted by those who sought to prevent him from fleeing. With generations of our family now displaced, they need immediate support to secure safe transportation out of the conflict zone.

The funds raised will be sent to my mother’s account. She is in direct contact with my cousin, who is coordinating the logistics on the ground. Here’s how the funds will be used:

Every dollar raised will go towards the immediate needs of transporting and assisting our family members as they flee for their lives. My cousin, who is directly involved in coordinating these efforts, will ensure funds are directed where they are needed most.
