Dear friends,
I made this GoFundMe for a family in need of funds to evacuate Gaza. My name is Jannette Zapata and I live in Chicago, IL. 100% of the funds raised will be transferred through Western Union to relatives in Egypt anxiously waiting for their loved ones to join them.
This is their story
Hello, my name is Sajed Mansour, a Palestinian from Gaza. I am 15 years old and my future has been ruined. I was affected by the war. My brother was martyred, and some of my relatives were martyred. The war on Gaza is the last war since October 7, and as most of you know, Gaza is completely under rubble. There is no electricity, shelter, food, or any basic needs anyone needs on a daily basis.
The neighborhood I grew up in has been completely wiped off the face of the earth. All memories of these beautiful places will always be just a memory. I also lost my city, my neighborhood with all its sounds, smells, sights, and memories... and the only thing I still have is my family. I have lost everything I have and I am appealing to the international community.
We are urgently asking for your support to help my family evacuate to a safe place out of Gaza, because there is no safe place in the Gaza Strip. The evacuation fee for each person is 5,000 US dollars, and the cost of living in the Gaza Strip until evacuation is very expensive. Our goal is to raise $150,000.
But I did not give up, I wanted to rebuild again with your support and solidarity. I launched this campaign to restore hope for myself and my family - Mohammed, Sohaib, Sajed, Qasem, Abdalkarem and Tala Mansour.
Let's get them to safety, rebuild our lives, and make a living again.
Please share this campaign with your friends, family, and networks. Together, we can make a powerful impact and provide hope for a brighter future.
Thank you for being a beacon of hope in our time of need, and thank you.
Update 11/01/2024
"
This update is particularly difficult to share. If you've followed the news from Jabalia in northern Gaza, you’ll know that this historic city and refugee camp has been under heightened siege and attempted extermination by Israel over the last three weeks. Jabalia is where Mohammed was born, where his family roots are, and where one of his family’s two homes was located. For the past year, several of his older brothers have been confined there, cut off from the rest of Gaza by checkpoints.
Throughout these weeks, Mohammed has been in touch with his brothers and extended family, exchanging texts and voice messages whenever cell signals allowed. First, he learned that their home—already damaged in previous strikes—was irreparably destroyed. Then, last Monday he received the news that a beloved aunt, uncle, and cousin had been killed in an attack on Beit Lahia. Finally, this past weekend, he awoke to the devastating message from his mother that his brother Ahmad did not survive a bomb strike. As the only member of his family member in Egypt, Mohammed is having to grieve all those while being separated from his parents and siblings.
How can we support Mohammed and his family during this time of mounting loss? We can show our support in several ways. You can send moral support and condolences to Mohammed directly via Instagram at @4mohammedmansour, or via me through the Contact button below.
You can send material support via donation. As the possibility of evacuation becomes more and more remote, their plans turn toward building back a home on their plot of land in Al Zawayda, Central Gaza, as soon as it’s feasible.
Lastly, we can continue to raise awareness among our social networks, we can boycott relevant targets (see boycat.io, disoccupied.com), and we can continue to pressure our political leaders to halt the weapons that fuel this inexcusable violence.”
