Hi, I'm Grace from the U.S., and I'm raising funds to keep Fares Quad, 23, and his family in Gaza alive. Additionally, I am working to raise these funds to help Fares leave Gaza and enter Egypt. In Egypt, he will work and raise his own money to send to his family back in Gaza. As a 23-year-old, he is the sole provider for all of his family of 13, as his cousin and sister's husband were martyred, and his father is immobile due to a spine injury; his sister has eight children and no one but Fares to support them.
He was just about to graduate from college before the war started. Despite the hardship, Fares perseveres, but he has had to leave his studies behind to support his family. While his stomach rumbles and cramps from the hunger, and while the constant planes and bombing are heard overhead, he continues.
It will cost approximately $8,000 to evacuate Fares from Gaza. We need all the help we can get. He will only be able to get out of Gaza during a ceasefire due to closed borders. As ceasefires are few and far between, this highlights the urgency of raising these funds to have them ready for the subsequent ceasefire. I have asked him to write a statement for himself that is posted below.
We cannot forget he is also responsible for food, water, hygiene, and so he also needs the money to maintain his and his family's lives while we wait for a ceasefire.
Eight little children are in dire need. I know most of us have at least $5 to give, here is the place and now is the time. YOU can change their lives.
When I was little, I wanted to change the world, as I got older, I was paralyzed by this want, never knowing where to start. One day, I realized I just needed to start, to pick something and do it. I did just that and have been able to keep families and individuals alive. I discovered that it is not about changing the whole world, it's about changing someone's world and what an honor it is.
Please donate whatever you can, even $5; it adds up.
How will the money be spent?
1. Food/Water: Flour is $750 for 5 lbs of flour
2. Shelter/Rebuild Home: When displaced, transporting their tent and a few belongings can cost upwards of $600.
3. Get out of Gaza: Nearly $8,000 to get one person out.
How will money be given?
I know Fares very well, and after his last GoFundMe was closed, he turned to me for help. I will send money through PayPal, which is then accessed through an IBAN.
Fares Statement - A Plea For Survival
"I'm Fares from Gaza. My age doesn’t really matter anymore—here, age doesn’t make a difference. What matters is that I’m a human being from this land, a person worn out by everything. We’re a family of 13. We used to live in a simple house, but it was full of warmth and love. There wasn’t always a lot of food on the table, but there was always safety and laughter.
The war stole everything—our childhoods, our dreams, our smiles. Our home was destroyed. Every time we tried to rebuild our lives, we were displaced again. Twenty times we’ve been forced to flee, leaving behind memories and running into the unknown. Every time we told ourselves, “Maybe this is the last time,” but the war always comes back—harsher than before.
The ceasefire felt like a deep breath, but it didn’t last. The bombing returned, the sounds that never leave your ears came back. The fear in the children’s eyes returned. My mother doesn’t have the energy to cook anymore—even if she had something to cook. There’s no gas, no water, no electricity. Now we’re living in a tent. A tent that doesn’t shield us from the cold at night or the heat during the day. We’re living like guests in our own country—as if we don’t belong to this land.
I’m tired. Tired of seeing my siblings cry from hunger. Tired of hearing my mother pray with her hands raised and no one answering. Tired of dreaming and waking up to the sound of drones. I don’t want much from this life—just one day without fear, without running, without blood. Maybe the world has forgotten Gaza, forgotten our pain, but we’re still here. Still holding on. Still trying to live… even if it’s under a tent.
