One of our younger cats, Charlie had been yelping, he's not a very social cat, and prefers to hide so hiding illness was easier for the little guy. We caught him when he was a sickly 5 month old kitten only weighing 2 and half pounds, put outside by neighbors who likes kittens but not once they get too big, then they go outside. He was in bad shape, traumatized from being outside, and a little cross-eyed too which causes him to panic easy.

I took him to the vet because it was clear something was wrong and having another cat that suffered with mouth ulcers, I knew that was what was wrong and we needed to get him treatment asap. It's been difficult because we've been paying the majority of the rent/bills and keeping food on the table for humans and cats, one roommate has a part time job and pays as much as they can, the other roommate has been out of work for a couple months now so money is pretty tight with not a lot available for vet emergencies as big as Charlie's.

He is insured, we just need the upfront funds first. His appointment today should cover most of his deductible and then we should get 70% back on his future costs.

Charlie has mouth ulcers, and potentially they will be chronic like the other cat had, unless we can get a dental cleaning done right away and get his blood work sorted. He's a young cat, only 2 so having bad ulcers like that could be a sign of underlying condition, there was concerns about leukemia. So we have to move fast to make sure Charlie can recover. The dental cleaning fees can be anywhere from 500 to a 1000 if they need to extract teeth, I am basing this from our experiences with the other cat. Any extra funds we don't end up using for Charlie will go to vet care for our other cats.
