For years, I’ve faced dental issues that have now become a serious threat to my health. Two weeks ago, I woke up with what I thought was the flu, but it turned out to be symptoms from abscesses in my mouth—fever, chills, headaches, and constant pain. Even after brushing and using mouthwash, I can’t get rid of the foul taste, and eating has become a daily struggle. I love to sing and worship, and laughing is one of my greatest joys, but right now, it hurts to do both.

I have no problem being open about my past—years of addiction, incarceration, and homelessness. I’m coming up on eight years clean, and I’ve worked hard to rebuild my life. Being a Christian has taught me to lean on faith and community through every season. My husband and I have held the same job and apartment for years, but our job doesn’t offer dental insurance, and the dentists I’ve seen have only given me false hope. We’ve done everything we’re supposed to, but life happens, and sometimes you need help.

I know I need a bone graft and clip-ons so my teeth stay in place, but I’m not trying to be greedy—just asking for the basic dental care I need to function daily in life. If my fundraiser goes above the asking amount, I will put every single dollar toward doing just that. It’s humbling to ask for support, but recovery has taught me that humility is part of healing, and that God often works through people. I’ve done the work to stay sober and trusted God through seasons I didn’t think I’d survive. Now, I’m asking for help to finish this chapter—so I can stay healthy, keep moving forward, and continue living the life I’ve been given. If you’re able to help financially, I am deeply grateful.
