Hello friends,

I will jump right into it, Cooper, my Bubba, Coop Boop and devoted companion, needs to have a procedure done on his ear. A hematoma formed on his ear around Monday, and has steadily been growing since then.

Here is a quick primer on what Dr. Google says about hematomas: “A hematoma in a dog is a blood-filled pocket under the skin, most commonly an aural (ear flap) hematoma, caused by ruptured blood vessels from vigorous head shaking or scratching due to an underlying condition like ear infections or allergies.”

In short, treating his hematoma is not possible in the US because of the cost. At the suggestion of a friend, I have looked into getting his hematoma fixed at Hospivet in Tijuana, Mexico. As of now the appointment is on Tuesday morning at 9am. I am writing you today to ask for your monetary assistance to make this happen.

Many of you know that I have been off work since last year. For many reasons I have been taking this time to heal from losing my job, putting our lives back together after significant changes, and personal illness. Though I am well on my way to finding a job, Cooper’s unexpected condition puts an immense strain on my resources.

I am asking for your help to raise $800 for the procedure, aftercare, and logistical arrangements.

My budget breakdown is as follows:

- $400 procedure to be performed in TJ (initial exam + bloodwork + extraction)

- $80 gas from OC to TJ and back

- $100 accommodation for 1 night in SD (this will be rolled into the aftercare budget if we do not need to stay overnight)

- $50 food for one day in TJ

- $50 follow up meds

- $100 aftercare appointment (to be done at Coopers US vet)

- $20 international data plan for two days

You probably know that I am very stubborn about asking for help. But I am writing you today because it’s for my Bubba, who I would go to the ends of the earth for. For his sake, I admit that I cannot do this on my own. Whatever assistance you are able to give would be appreciated by both of us. And I know money issues are hard for everyone right now.
