Urgent Care Needed for Wade's Beloved Cat Grete

Hi. I'm Wade. I live in South Minneapolis with my two cats Gregor and Grete. Anyone who knows me knows that they're my everything.

In recent months, Grete (pictured here in an older photo) has had several medical issues that are compounding one another and I need to get her in to see the vet again. Vet bills are ridiculously expensive and my last two trips for her to the vet broke my budget. It started with a raspy voice and some pretty alarming gagging. She then developed some issues with her third eyelid closed over one of her eyes. The doctor said that she might have a scratched cornea. After her course of treatment, we've see very slow and uncertain progress with her eye, but it has a long way to go, if it ever even fully heals. He also mentioned that she needs a teeth cleaning. Yesterday, she started wheezing and her breathing sounds like a crackle. Her scratchy meow is getting even worse and she's having a hard time maintaining her balance now and she falls over a lot when walking. I clean her little face twice a day, because she makes a mess when she eats and she's not cleaning herself and taking as good of care of herself as normal.

She's an older kitty and I need more financial latitude than my current budget allows to work with the vet to determine what the best course of action for Grete should be. She'll definitely need some tests run to figure out whats going on with her balance and gait, probably also for her wheezing and scratchy voice. We'll probably want to do a follow up on her eye too. It may be that she'll just need a course of antibiotics or something, but it's also a very real possibility that there's some more serious underlying issue we haven't found yet. It may even be that now's the time to say goodbye and let her go humanely. I just don't know. And I won't know until I can get her in.
